Mar 9 2012- Uploaded a corrected version of the Excel 2007 file- thanks to SK for notifying me of an error affecting dual income couples. Also, a USC setting was incorrect.

Jan 3 2012- Uploaded the Excel 2003 file version. Please note that the Excel 2007 version is the most feature rich version. The Excel 2003 version is no longer being further developed.

2009-12-002 => 2009-12-003:

- Uploaded a new version of the Excel 2007 file only- this includes some code improvements (mainly speed improvements when clicking hyperlinks) and a new form to allow the user to exclude optional deduction items from a prior year.


2009-12-001 => 2009-12-002:

- Uploaded a new version of the Excel 2007 file only- this corrects an error on the 'Net pay calculations' sheet which occurred if the user chose to view the aggregate year-to-date values. Thanks are due to Maria for notifying me of this :-)

2009-11-008 => 2009-11-009:

- Uploaded amended version of the 2007 calculator. This was uploaded to apply the revised treatment of employer contributions to an employees PRSA which are now no longer to be subject to PRSI (both employee and employer). For details of the revised treatment see here.

2009-11-007 => 2009-11-008:

- Uploaded corrected version of the 2007 calculator. Version 2009-11-007 gave an incorrect pension levy deduction- apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The new 2007 version has the following new features:
- Included a 'Problem reporting' link to provide a simple means of alerting me to errors
- Code corrections and improvements to speed up performance - the performance improvements will be visible when clicking between the sheets where a user does not have any optional deductions or income items.

2009-11-006 => 2009-11-007:

- Uploaded revised calculator [only the 2007 version has been revised] to include changes introduced by the 'Jobs Initiative Budget' announced on May 10th (only employer PRSI was affected). The calculator has the following new features:

- USER REQUEST Provision for including Jobseeker's Benefit amount in periods where user/ spouse is in receipt of same.
- Included a 'Hide Language bar' button to reduce screen clutter.
- Improved/ simplified the levy refunds tool.
- Introduced clickable Help icons for 'Required Information' elements on the 'Start here' sheet.
- Various code corrections and improvements.

2009-11-005 => 2009-11-006:

- Uploaded revised calculator [only the 2007 version has been revised] with the following new features:
- USER REQUEST Provision for including employer contributions to an employee's PRSA fund (taxed under benefit-in-kind rules).
- Provision of a method for a user to enter a customised deduction from their pay.
- Developed a 'tax deductions trend chart' facility [on main menu] to allow a user to visually display the trend in tax/levy deductions from a given salary for all years since 2009.
- Included a Family Income Supplement alert for certain categories of employees with children whose income falls within certain parameters.
- Various code corrections and improvements.

2009-11-004 => 2009-11-005:

- Uploaded revised 2007 file which contains VBA code modifications to allow it to be opened in Excel 2010 (thanks are due to Jakub Gutkowski for his work on this). Also some minor code corrections inserted.

February 4th 2011: UPDATE to Excel 2003 file [does not affect 2007 file]

- Uploaded a new file to correct a PRSI error which affected the spouse's PRSI calculation in dual income couple scenarios.

2009-11-003 => 2009-11-004:

- Uploaded further corrections to PRSI calculations. The 2007 file is now fully checked against the examples given in the official Budget Annex and is in agreement with all examples on pages 7 to 15 (ignoring family income supplement for low paid families). Please note that some of the examples in that document [for public servants earning more than €75000 annually] actually contain some errors, as the values in the 'existing PRSI' calculations column don't take account of PRSI relief on pension contributions-{EDIT: Seems to be fixed now}. The 2003 version will be updated as soon as feasible- I need to rework a LOT of formulae to make it work so it will take some time.

- Uploaded corrections which affected certain public servant pension and PRSI calculations. PLEASE NOTE THAT UNTIL NOTIFIED THAT THE EXCEL 2003 FILE HAS NOT YET BEEN CORRECTED. Due to file limitations in Excel 2003, I need to re-work certain formula (to make them shorter) and this will take some time to do. Until notified, the Excel 2007 file is the most accurate under all scenarios and the Excel 2003 should be OK for private sector employees.
